They don't mention the name, but I believe this is the Winn House.

Seems priced to sell:

Hi Craig. Wow another cool FLW home priced to sell...In Michigan. I sure wish we had more of his work here in Texas.

Thanks for sharing the photos.

Those are the first photos I have ever seen of Winn interiors. It's much better than I thought; most critics don't have much of a positive nature to say about it. The site is wonderful, it's much closer to Kalamazoo than Pratt and it considerably bigger, so it should not last on the market very long at that price.

If I lived in the USA, I'd pay cash for it today, and move there tomorrow.

That is so cheap - how come it hasn't been snapped up?

Just goes to show that even an "off" FLLW design still shines!

I think they've even brought the price down from 285k to 260k...

If that house wasn't more than 600 miles away from where I live, I'd buy it!

Then again, maybe I should!

What is your opinion of the interior of the Winn House what with everything being painted and carpeted? Doesn't that affect the integrity of the house? What about the ability to sell the house? Why is it called an "off" FLW design? Thanks for your comments.

Painted block is not good, but it can be corrected; Joel Silver completely removed some horrid hues from the Storer House. Most of the bad stuff inside seems to be correctable. It's obviously not first-rate FLW, but keep in mind that even at his worst, FLW was better than most at their best. The siting is quite wonderful, however. And the price is well worth it.

Winn House

Yes, this is the Winn House. It has forced air heat, so less desirable than true Wrightian radiant heat. It is also the least accessible of the Parkwyn homes, as it sets back off the road, just past the Levin home.

The area is beautiful & 1 more selling feature should be The Kalamazoo Promise(free 4 yr college tuition to any public university or community college in MI).

Kalamazoo is a lovely town & we are very lucky to have 2 great developments so easily accessible.

Winn has forced air because about half of the house is two-story; the FLW gravity heat system works only with a concrete slab. But that wasn't the only time he used forced air. Pew, which is cantilevered and thus does not have a slab floor, uses the space beneath the floor as a plenum for hot air with the finish floor boards spaced slightly apart so the hot air flows up between them. This comes close to the effect of the slab systems.
