Why would America want to live in a McMansion when they could have the Deknatel home, or this one, for similar money ?

This house was on one of the WiW tours a few years ago. A bunch of us were stranded there for awhile because of a bus breakdown. The house is a sheer joy. If I remember, the owners at that time, if not the original owners, had worked directly with Howe on the home's expansion which added a master bedroom wing.
I remember thinking at the time, that the house was wonderful because it couldn't have been designed without Howe's experience with Wright, but it had a number of elements that you wouldn't have imagined Wright doing. It stuck to the principles without spitting in the coffee, I thought.
But people with that kind of money will avoid it for the usual reasons. Esp. in the original wing, they'll say the bedrooms and bathrooms aren't big enough. But man oh man does that house sing.

Really fantastic home - and on the day that we toured a few years back the owner invited the folks on our bus to come in and watch the Kentucky Derby.

Beautiful. Is there a monograph on Howe's work?

I believe there is at least one book and one movie on Jack Howe in the works.

I was able to attend the Open House.
WOW!! That was definitely one of Howe's very best houses. Owned by the client for 50 years, in pristine condition.

Please someone write a monograph on Howe. I need a fresh fix of organic design.

Robert Barros is working on the finances for his film on Howe; it'll be here sooner or later.
Getting a film made and produced and ready for release is no cakewalk, apparently . . .

Thanks for posting these. It's great to know that the Monograph on Howe will be along soon. And we can hope that the '2015 release date' on the bio film also pans out, as well.

Add a touch of color to the interior plaster and unpack.
