Greene & Greene houses don't often come up for sale, but the Anthony House (1909) located a couple blocks off Sunset Blvd. in Beverly Hills, behind the BH Hotel, is on the market for $9M, one of their finest designs still in private hands.

Their typical eave detail of the rafters extending beyond the roof line ... anybody know how the exposed rafters are protected? Seems like sun and rain would eventually take a toll? But in all shots I've seen this wood gleams as if new.

Up close and personal I've seen G & G tails carefully capped with sheet copper, molded to shape and fastened with many small nails. How many of these applications are original I cannot say . . .
