If you simply MUST have a McMansion, this one is as good as it gets.

One thing I appreciate about the LDH design is the hiding of the garage door. Too often, frontal doors tend to overwhelm.

I agree, David. Especially overwhelming is an 18' double garage door next to a 9' single. With a three-car garage, it is possible to make something less objectional by using three 8' doors.

I adapted a design of a house for my parents that featured a 10' x 20' open garden court entry (total waste of space) next to a 24' square garage. Instead of a 10' gaping void and a 16' garage door, I framed a 9' doorway for the court (plus a skylight), two 9' garage doors and, by extending the front wall of the house, a fourth 9' opening, all 4 identically framed and centered to add to the design, such as it was, rather than detract. The fourth doorway led to a path to the back yard.

Heh. Interesting. The trend of late is to make a multi-unit residential building appear as a single house. You managed the opposite for your parents, it seems ? Were they so-called overhead doors, or hinged pairs ?

REALTOR PERJURY: There should be some kind of penalty for stupid realtors who mis-attribute houses to someone other than the actual architect.

Just about every entity that sells a product is responsible to tell the truth in its advertising....somehow that is not enforced or it is selectively enforced with real estate professionals.
