Auldbrass

Post by jmcnally »

I will be driving past the Auldbrass Plantation next month on my way north. Does anyone have a map of the property they can post? Are any buildings visible from public roadways?

The Auldbrass tour is in November, but I won't be in the south at that time and would like to see the property - even if from afar - when I can.

From the road, you can obviously see the Wright designed perimeter fence and front gate, and one or both of the guest cottages, though not very well. The main buildings are far enough back and obscured by trees that they are not visible.

The lake from which this picture was taken is the private lake on the property, which is connected to the local river system. Many alligators in the water, so don't try and sneak in by swimming.

I wonder if any of those many alligators ever goes for a swim in Joel's pool?

between gators and jellyfish/man-o-wars, I have not entered any water since moving to Florida three years ago. I'll stick with the Great Lakes for swimming, thank you.

Actually, I was told that once, after a particularly heavy rainstorm that caused some flooding, they did find a small alligator in the pool.
