Porte-cochere has become "porte cache" on the plan . . .

Perhaps that's where you store your cache of port? One can never have too much.

Hate the pool.

Is there a preservation covenant attached to the sale? A buyer could make back the $650K just by selling off the stained glass.

On my second link, click Photo Gallery then in the lower left is "full screen viewer" some of the best real estate photos I have seen this side of Cosby Doe. You do have to click pause though, the slide show is way fast.

I really like that Homesight.net realtor service. We've all complained about the very poor photos available on most realtor websites. This seems to be a huge improvement over what we are usually subjected to.

Interesting that the current owners have a chair from the Imperial Hotel (next to the grandfather clock) or maybe it is a reproduction.

No, it's real. When I was in college at Millikin University my Design professor put together a Prairie School Symposium. In addition to tours of the Millikin Place houses, antique dealers and Arts & Crafts artisans were invited to set up tables in the Performing Arts Center gallery to sell wares. John Toomey came with an impressive assortment of antiques for sale, including that yellow Imperial Hotel chair.

I remember it distinctly because it was the first real piece of Frank Lloyd Wright furniture I had ever seen, it was weirdly amazing, and it was $7000. Needless to say, the current owner purchased it and placed it in the house where it's been ever since.

Years later I went to a tour of the Millikin Place homes for a Walter Burley Griffin Society of America tour and smiled when I saw that familiar yellow chair still there.

I remember the first time I photographed that house I had a camera that took panorama shots that when processed were 10 inches wide. It really came in handy for the Irving House!

Another of those yellow Imperial Hotel chairs sold at Michaan's Auctions in Alameda CA on November 17 for $8,850 plus 18% buyer's premium plus sales tax.
