This is pretty amazing, the Warren McArthur and George Blossom homes are both for sale! Interior shots are pretty fascinating as well.

It's amazing how little these houses have changed over the past 120 years. Not only does the buyer get a great house, but each has an interesting carriage house/garage as well.

Geiger did a study of the roof plan of Blossom that is quite intriguing. I hope he put it all down in writing (he could be lax in that department). Even when FLW was working in historical styles, he was incorporating his nascent modernism into the design.

The MacArthur House was designed for the family of the designer of the Arizona Biltmore Hotel.

not to reopen an overworked discussion, but the photographs (especially of Blossom) of the interior woodwork and trim compared to Charnley and Sullivan's house on the south side are fascinating in that Wright appears to have a complete "system" that is quite different from that being done by other architects and builders at the time. One wonders how it all came together for him at this early age.

Misinterpretation of contemporaneous photos (and mainly INOM) were responsible for selling a lot of white paint! Restorations have found wonderful color palettes. One of the most interesting is Davidson. The exterior was actually a light shade of blue.

thanks for the photos - I knew that maintenance had been spotty, but your photos show a house that is comprised of a porch that is being held together with paint. A great deal of rotten wood and failing foundation walls - not a good sign. Still, it is a very important commission, and it would be wonderful if someone had the wherewithall to fix it up!

Given the state of the exteriors and the fact that these are two big houses on very small lots, the $1.48M might be a more reasonable price for the two combined.
