That's a good one. I guess we'll just have to see what the stage looks like. Down here in Florida, they have shown construction video, and FLW never came to mind during those viewings. But it was mainly plywood, and not the finished product.egads wrote:Considering they are expecting a hurricane, perhaps it will leak.

The Rand connection is overblown. FLW did not like Rand; he considered her stupid, at least according to John Geiger. FLW consorted with Rand for the commission, to which he gave short shrift, assuming (correctly) that she wouldn't follow through.
As to FLW's politics, they were all over the map, but as a true individualist, he was closer to a real form of Republicanism than anything remotely associated with today's version of liberalism.

I read that he admired and supported Adlai Stevenson, (a fellow Unitarian...) whom I would consider a post New Deal Democrat. But you're right, Wright's politics were indeed all over the map.

I'm not seeing it. Except, whatever that material is looks like wood, and Frank Lloyd Wright also used wood in his structures.

Oh yeah, I see it. Who could miss the Taliesin West corner stair, the abstracted canvas panels flying above the stage...like the RNC are blowing the roof off (or is that Hurricane Issac?). All that is missing is some desert concrete on the central podium and a petroglyph covered rock at its corner.
We shouldn't laugh too much, the DNC will probably come up with something just as banal.
