Legacy Projects

Post by flwromanza »

Does anyone know of a complete list of Wright legacy projects that were not included in the Frank Lloyd Wright Companion? My version of the book lists the Lykes house as the final structure and does not include the Phoenix church.

I believe there is a mix up of terminology. I will leave this to those better versed to comment further, but I believe that " Legacy " is a reference to FLW designs executed after 1959, by TAA (Taliesin Associated Architects ) and its subsequent architectural configurations. I believe "Legacy" was more of a marketing concept which came after the 'addendums' as indicated by Storrer.

The Storrer guide from 1983 indeed shows Lykes as S433 (1959) and has several pages of 'addendums'; A434 Pfeiffer (1938 - constructed 1974 ), Lovness Cottage A435 (1958 - 1976), Feldman A436 (1939 - 1974 ) and lastly, First Christian Church A437 ( 1950 with construction 1971-1977 ).

These were not listed in the larger format Companion for some reason.

Excellent questons....

Not sure if this is what you are after, but the forth post down in this thread lists all of those projects built after Wright's death (as far as we know).

They should make a book on the TAA, such projects as the Phoenix Church, Bartlesville Community Center, were apart of the TAA headed by William Wesley Peters. I think a book on the TAA would be good. I am sure their projects will be recognized here in the future.
