Who owns the VDL House? It's always in a state of impoverished need.

About twenty years ago, the house was donated to Cal Poly Pomona. It is now technically owned by the Cal Poly Pomona Foundation, a non profit...

Universities and Colleges are not very good stewards of architecture. USC owns Freeman, which is practically lost due to lack of care and incredibly bad choices about the restoration that has been executed. SUNY Buffalo owned DD Martin for decades, and it did not fare well at all.

From what little I know of the situation, the Univ. of Chicago certainly did not do the Robie House any favors during their ownership period.

Since I took a shot at the U. of Chicago re: their treatment of the Robie House, in the interest of fairness I think I should mention that Lawrence Technological Univ. has done an admireable job of stewardship with the Affleck Residence in Michigan, especially here in recent years under the guidance of our friend and FLWBC board member Dale Gyure.
