Heller House in Hyde Park for sale

Post by Oak Park Jogger »

Just ran across a listing in the Hyde Park Herald for the Heller House, available through Urban Search realtors. $2,500,000.00 Couldn't find the listing on the realtor's website, but saw it in the paper. . . .

Egads. Now you see why Mr. Wright designed furniture for his houses.

This home would be perhaps a bit easier to tastefully furnish than a pure prairie house in my opinion...wouldnt mind the opportunity...that would be a hell of a lot of fun.

I’ve always loved this house. It has always seemed sorta overlooked to me.

It has the added advantage of being close to the Robie House.

It would be great fun to properly restore the house. And furnish.

What a treat seeing so many interior images. So few archival images exist.

According to The Hyde Park Herald, the neighborhood newspaper, the house is open from 1-3 on Sunday, February 19, 2012.

Thanks for the tip. It'll be nice to make the trip down to Hyde Park, visit the Smart Museum, and see another Wright house...

While you're in the neighborhood I recommend Byrne's St. Thomas the Apostle church and school. The school is on Woodlawn, a few blocks due north of Robie; the church is around the block to the east. Ianelli did the terra cotta ornamentation.

Isn't Hugh Garden's Madlener House in that area?

The Graham Foundation's site gives the address 4 W. Burton Pl. in the Gold Coast, several miles away.
