T-West Tours

Post by m.perrino »

Happy to report a very busy day at Taliesin West. Tours running every 20 minutes, traffic steady all day long. A strong improvement over the last two years performance. The book store also appeared to be doing brisk business. Hopefully tourism is on the upswing again in the Phoenix area.

Perhaps this horrible economy is starting to improve a bit.....I sure hope so. Good news for T-West, one of my favorite places on earth.

m.perrino, do you work at Taliesin West? If so, can you update us on what's happening there? I've thought about volunteering there during the winter, and have wondered how many visitors they get per year, compared with places like Taliesin and Fallingwater, and what kinds of tours (regular, in-depth, landscape) are most popular. I assume February or March are your busiest months. Do things die off completely in the summer? How many volunteers do you have? I suspect that many volunteers are seasonal.

Or can any other Taliesin West folks fill us in? Thank you.

m.perrino-

Good news to hear about the great traffic at T-West. I would have to believe that visitation will likely remain quite strong for the next week or so, with tens of thousands of Univ. of Oregon and Auburn Univ. fans in town for the BCS College Football National Championship Game taking place in Glendale, AZ on Jan. 10th (next Monday). What do you think, Mike?

Farmer Bill : For clarification, I do not work at T-West. I am not an employee. I have been a volunteer, classified as a docent and have given tours since 1986. The people you should contact who can speak about the volunteer program would be : Leah Jackovich and/or Donna Yeaw . You can reach them and/or obtain their e mail address's by calling Taliesin West, 480.860.2700

Best,
Michael

Wrightgeek : It would be speculation on my part, but anytime that the visitor count increases in the Phoenix area, those organizations that are dependent upon increasing numbers do benefit, regardless of the market segment (full or niche) they target. I believe I can say, without fear of censure, and within the scope of my own opinion - although we all know that postings are not 'free speech' protected ; MORE BOWL GAMES. MORE CONVENTIONS. MORE IS BETTER ! ! !

Thanks Wrightgeek - unbeknownst to you - that question gets you a COOKIE ! ! ! ( a rumored FLW saying.....)
