What does Anne Frank, Batman, and the Wizard of Oz have to do with FLW?



Check out the bookstore on this site. The books no longer relate to FLW, unless there is new connection between FLW and Anne Frank and Batman and the Wizard of Oz.

The answer, I suspect, is that this is paid advertising by Amazon. If it brings money in for the Conservancy, I'm all for it.

It was Frank who first coined the term "Gotham", and it was originally applied to Chicago, by Frank in 1919, shortly before he invented the cowl, cape and now famous "Batarang" - derived from the Australian aboriginal hunting boomerang which so amazed the peopleof the day.



So, by day, Frank was mild-mannered (if somewhat unorthodox) architect, and by night he was "The Batman", fighting crime, and criminals in Chicago, with his trusty sidekick "Batboy" (Later renamed "Robin" for personal reasons. It is thought that Edgar Tafel was the very first batboy, but that a string of apprentices filed the role over the years. Photographic analysis of photos taken in the 20s-40s of Batboy/Robin seem to indicate as many as seven different men appearing alongside Batman.



DC Comics didn't so much "invent" Batman, as simply told the story of the derring-do associated with Frank's after-hours activities.

I think Mobius may be the Wizard of Oz

I am not sure FLLW would have deigned to live in a mansion or work in a cave. But he would definitely have liked the rocket-propelled car. Now, was Phillip Johnson the Joker or the Penguin?
