I think this is what it says... can someone clear that up?

proportions- yes, that is certainly what it says; that would be easy shorthand for the instructions and, as you say, explains the leg perf.

I used a magnifying glass on the reproduction of the plan in the book -- and it was still touch and go. I don't believe it is legible from what appears here; the portion of the drawing that I posted is at too low resolution.

Deciphering the hyphenated word was the turning point. . .

This would explain perfectly the absence of front or rear elevations for the "studio chair." "Front and back elevations same" would presumably include the perforation. . .

Following the First Page I have made the perf design for the chair used at G-W, if you look closely the Affleck design and G-W are not the same design. I am still working on the design but here is a little "teaser".

Note that Jeff has distinguished the dining/side chair, with its vertical front leg, from the lounge chair ("studio chair"), shown here:





and here:



It is possible, however, that he has the back angle of the dining chair just a couple of degrees too far reclined, and the seat perhaps an inch or so too deep, in his illustration, compared to the architect's drawing ? Still, it's a delight to see the redwood (yes, another one) and brick so lovingly depicted -- the ghost of the house, or maybe its elements of enclosure and furnishing, in a form never before seen . . .

I also noticed that the Table shows the same mark. I am debating whether to put it in or not. I only added the perf to the lounge chair not the dining chair.
I am combining built and planned to the model so it may seem like a mesh of designs but it will look good in the end especially when i add the perf design.
