Jacobs' Residence-the first Usonian

Post by Jeff Myers »

I bought a book today called The Show to end all Shows- Frank Lloyd Wright and the Museum of Modern Art 1940. It has a plan for a house that is very similar to Jacabs' 1 and it has Perforated Window Screens. It is exactly the Jacobs' Residence plan and it has some interesting photos of his designs and projects.

Yes, it is sad that this Usonian was not realized.
RE: the perforated boards
The MoMA Model Usonian, 1940 & the Loyd Lewis House, 1939 perfs are in the same design category
Note that the perfs were to be installed as a running band as a "lantern" n the ceiling as well (both upper and lower roofs)

So far I like the book. I needed something to read and I was at Barnes and Noble so I just figured to get it.
