I built one of the 1924 lake Tahoe projects that were never realized. It's on a beautiful 1 arce lot on a cul de sac in Mooresville, North Carolina. It's up for sale. Looking for a person or family to love this home as much as I do. I have spent years handcrafting this home myself. This is not a run of the mill mass produced home by some fly by night builder. The spirit which Frank was able to achieve in his homes is most certainly felt as soon as you approach this home. Once inside the home you cannot avoid being transended into this spirit.
I'd love to see what you have done, Gordon -- I'm sure others would as well. If you have photos to share, you may link us to them -- or I would be happy to post them here.
In anticipation, can you tell us if you chose the Wigwam, Fir Tree, Shore or Lodge Cabin as your model ?
Thanks to all who showed interest in my home. I will in the future very soon, get some photos on line so all can see. It's amazing to me to see so many people who have interest in Wright's work. I was at the Guggenheim this weekend and was so intrigued by one simple moment when a young man pushing a baby carriage to the center of the first floor, suddenly tilted the carriage back and said to his son to look up. Another inspiration. Wow. I wish more architecture would be influenced by Wrights work.
I saw something similar at the cathedral of Amiens. A tourist family was pushing a stroller through the nave, tallest in gothic architecture (though Beauvais is taller in the parts they got around to building). Everybody looks up spontaneously to take in the immensity of the place, and there was the baby checking out the quadripartite vaulting like everybody else.
This just gave me an idea for my, and I will credit you guys for saying this,Nusonian Automatic or the NU-Usonian designs. Just to start the Usonia Reborn. THanks for the great ideas.
