Wes Peters bar -- article and photo
I recall reading or hearing somewhere that Gene Masselink's wall mural mostly survived the fire and was taken to Taliesin for storage/restoration. My wife and I had dinner there in 2002, we have poor quality non-digital pics somewhere. It was difficult to photograph: dimly lit, and crowded when we were there. The author is right, it did feel like a Taliesin appentice's club. The Mojitos were good.
Imagine the trash talk those walls witnessed...I'm surprised Olgivanna didn't have it bugged (just kidding).

From the photos, i can almost smell the stale cigarette smoke trapped in the deep shag carpeting. No windows (well, one tiny one) and deep shag makes for a real cocktail bar. Built in 1959, the year of Wright's passing; maybe many hours of assessing the future of Taliesin were spent here over thousands of packs of smokes and liquor.
Or maybe just a neighborhood tavern for locals...
The quiet village of Spring Green's only example of Googie architecture?

A Question for Spring Green...
Has there been any news on the condition or whereabouts of Gene Masselink's mural from the Flying Dutchman Bar, which supposedly survived the fire with partial damage? I had read at the time the mural was taken to Taliesin.

Only photo I could locate of the mural, from an old postcard:
