Thanks for that post, I've loved E Fay Jones work ever since his presentation in Madison Wisconsin circa 1983. I had to smile when i saw the end elevation (picture) with a transom window over the large doors, so suggestive of Thorncrown Chapel. What a beautiful house.[/url]

Well, I have been involved with an E. Fay Jones project, so I am looking items up constantly about him.

Here are a few more houses for sale.

This one, The Buckley house, Listed for $900,000 is just amazing. Paul Ringstrom and I, along with a tour group, went through this house recently. It really is as amazing as it looks. $900,000 seems a bit steep for NW Arkansas, but the house somewhat justifies it. Here is a link, Get a load of those photos!!!

Yes, the Buckley House was awesome. It is located on a hill so that the front of the house is a ranch and the back is two story.

Stoneflower looks wonderful. Does anyone have any more interior shots. Wish the realtor had more pictures. What is the square footage of this work? Love the stone and waterfall bathroom.

It can also be rented! I think it has been brought up before, but if you are interested, I would do it now.. (Which reminds me.. I need to do this soon!)

Now this is a house in which I could retire. I am surprised by the stated square footage. It does not appear that large from the pictures. And it only has one bedroom. Does anyone have the floor plan? The on-line article seems to include them, but I cannot enlarge them to really see them.

I like the use of the stone and the apparent natural integration.

I don't know much about E. Fay Jones, but fter seeing pictures of some of his work, I will be doing some more research. 2 more questions:

1. Anyone know of any good books on his work?
2. With respect to Stoneflower, was the woodwork (interior and exterior) originally painted, as it currently appears from the pictures?

Well really, right now there are only two.

Outside the Pale, which is just a small book, and has a brief overview of his work.

The other book, Fay Jones by Robert Adams Ivy Jr. It is a more complete and comprehensive book. The only "main book" on E. Fay Jones at the moment. It still does not cover his entire body of work, but is very good. It has been out of print, so the prices vary greatly.

There is also a free PDF put together by the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program. Here is the link for it.. It is defiantly worth the time to read, VERY well researched. See page 40 for additional information on Stoneflower..

Well as an update, I heard back from the owner or Realtor, not sure which. According to him, this house was designed by Tom Lutz. Who had a house designed by E. Fay Jones. (http://www.flickr.com/photos/hypnoraygu ... 627991604/)

E Fay Jones had advised on the project, and Maurice Jennings (http://www.mauricejennings.com/) had some input as well. Jennings of course being a former partner of Jones, and still operating today.

Tom Lutz was a writer on the variety show Hee-Haw. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hee_Haw

So it has some interesting history..

We had the opportunity to drive down and see the George and Veda Fisher home by E. Fay Jones House in Lebanon, MO a couple of days ago.

The house has now been painted a less bluish tint, more gray/blue. I think it should be some shade of brown to blend in with the trees.

This house was purchased by a couple from AZ a few years ago. Their house did not sell in AZ, so they ended up moving back. The house has sat empty for a year and a half.

This is a very large house. It sits on over 5 fenced and gated acres of rolling wooded land with mature trees with asphalt driveways. It is on city sewer and water. It has an original three-car carport and a four car underground garage (that has been tastefully added near the in-gound pool).

Some of the masonry needs attention and the ceiling of the lower family room and living room needs work due to squirrel activity. The current owners had replaced all the kitchen and bathroom countertops. The floors are the signature Paris, AR golden flagstone that EFJ used in many of this houses. The windows and sliding doors were the original single-pane aluminum units with mill finish. The roof shingles look fairly new. LOTS of built-in storage cabinets and bookcases. You could easily put another $100K into it to make it spectacular.

Taxes were $1700 and utilities costs were unknown by the realtor.

Two more homes are for sale and I have been by them recently to check them out.

One is in Mena, AR.. It is the Bob Carver home. The home has had an interesting life. It has been cared for but not lived in for the past few years. The current owner is a lumber man, so the hill it is on is fairly stripped, but the home itself looks to be in excellent condition. The place is huge. I will be posting photos of it shortly, but I wasn't able to make it inside this trip and it was raining that day.

Go to this website and search for properties in Mena, AR. It is listed for $279,500, which to me is quite a steal..

The other one is in Cherokee Village, AR. It is a townhouse which Jones designed, but I don't believe he had anyone there to supervise construction, I could be wrong. The home is in great shape! You can walk out to the Golf course from it, and there is a river fairly close.

Doug Magee has the listing for two Jones properties, Stoneflower and this townhouse. Scroll down and you will see it..Again, another steal in my opinion..

DRN, wow! Ha.. I'm glad I could make someone's day! I just got back from a six day trip, taking over 2,800 photos of Jones properties. I went to Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi.

I'm not sure if everyone knows or not, but I'm working on a guidebook for E. Fay Jones and all his built structures, with David McKee and Maurice Jennings projects also being featured. It will be a lot like Thomas Heinz's book.

I am very close to finishing it. Well, so to speak. I hope to have it finished in the fall. I am now going by most of the projects that I can, to take photos of them.

It will be self published and I will have it available on Blurb.com. Then, I hope someone will help me publish it in a more legitimate fashion. But if not, it will be a pretty good guide to find Jones' work.
