I have posted another journal about the hotel Wright designed in Lake Geneva. It opened in 1912, and was demolished in 1970. The article includes some old postcard views of the house, and several photos taken before demolition.

It's a shame the hotel was demolished, but in America Bigger is Better! The lack of private bathrooms was certainly a drawback, but it could have been solved by gutting the building and rearranging the floorplan to accommodate fewer, larger rooms with private baths without doing damage to the exterior or the overall design concept. The original public rooms were wonderful. Just before the hotel was to be demolished, Bob Sweeney of bibliography fame bought one of the windows at a price less than it cost him to ship it to California. The fireplace in the lobby was moved to a fraternity house, as I recall. I wonder if much else survived?

Many of the casement windows were saved by the School of Architecture and Urban Planning of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Four are displayed in offices there.
