Lawyer Stickers
Lawyer Stickers
I find find the lawyer sticker on every page of Wright Chat to be questionable. It sends the wrong message from the Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy. Besides the board is now moderated which makes the sticker very redundant. Also Wright Chat should have a means to get back to the home page.

Paul:
I am not sure what you are specifically referring to as a "lawyer sticker" on every page of the web site, so perhaps you can clarify so I may better address your issue.
However, I will say that I am honored to be working on behalf of the Conservancy to moderate and monitor the web site and chat sections. The Conservancy and web developers have created a great place to come for those that appreciate and want to preservation Wright's works. So I hope I can ease your concerns as I will be vigilant in addressing any inappropriate posts, conduct, language, or otherwise inappropriate content on the site, so that you and all visitors have a pleasant, engaging and informative experience here.
This web site is a public representative of the Conservancy's mission, reputation and policies and as such, certain obvious steps must be made to curtail copyright abuse issues, inappropriate content, uncivil behavior and other actions that could reflect poorly for the Conservancy, its membership and policies. I'm sure everyone understands that.
But as such, even in the course of passionate discussion and debate, no one need be concerned as long as common sense and decency are the rule for conduct on the site and in the chat room.
I hope you and all visitors enjoy the results of the VERY hard work of Steve Sikora and his team on behalf of the Conservancy.

Thank you for the response. I sent you a PM.
It is exciting to see that Wright Chat will be moderated and that a new high quality web site is now in place. What the FLWBC was trying to do in the past with an unmoderated web site was impossible in my opinion and counter-productive. I commend the FLWBC for taking two giant steps forward. I am sure that the discussions will be as interesting as ever and that the mission of the FLWBC will be furthered through this web site as a great tool for communication.

I believe Paul is alluding to the revolting "Notice: this chat site is provided blah blah blah..."
Yeah - that panel is a waste of electrons. You do NOT require a disclaimer because the supreme court has already ruled that hosts are NOT responsible for the content posted by their members. The "all views..." text is doubly redundant as a result.
At best it's just a silly waste of space, and at worst is a paranoid delusion. In either case, there's no reason to have it at all.
It adds nothing to the site - nor is it accurate:
This is a forum, not a chat site. "Chat" has a very specific meaning: it is real-time, with "chat" not "posts" and "topics" and "threads" which is what a "forum" has. Chat is supported by many platforms, but "phpBB" is not now, never has been, and so far as I understand it, never WILL be a software component which will support "chat".
It often befuddles me why supposedly competent people can't even get the semantics right.
People who click a "Wright Chat" link expect to arrive at a single window where people are logged in and chatting in real time, with everyone's messages appearing consecuitvely as they are entered into the chat window.
It might seem like a trivial point, but in fact it is relatively important in my view.
Did I mention I am an IT professional, and a web developer?

How many escape pods are there? "NONE, SIR!" You counted them? "TWICE, SIR!"

The web site is wonderful and I appreciate the quality of the design and all of the hard work and expense that went into it. I am just offering suggestions to tweak the design. In place of the warning text on the green sticker, my suggestion is to use that as place to put NEWS like the upcoming FLWBC Conference.
OR
I suggest that the sticker graphic be used for some of the following or the Wight space be used for some of the following DONATE, FAQ, GOOGLE Search, Search member list, etc. White space is always cool in graphic design, but there is too much at the top of the screen with the sticker graphic and current navigation layout.
