Great-granddaughter. Her mother was Anne Baxter.

I watched more of "All About Eve" the other night than I had seen in a long time, including Ms Baxter's extensive scene with George Sanders. A nice pairing . . .

If Anne had not insisted on being nominated for best actress rather than in the supporting category, both she and Bette might have won Academy Awards for their superlative performances instead of Judy Holliday, even though Gloria Swanson should have beaten them all for "Sunset Boulevard."
There is a book about the making of "All About Eve" called "All About 'All About Eve.'"
Melissa attended some of the early FLWBC conferences. She was delightful company.

Carla Lind, first head of FLWBC, told me of a meeting with Anne Baxter. They had lunch at a restaurant on southbound Fifth Ave. in NYC at 42nd Street. After lunch they had a meeting at the Guggenheim at Fifth and 89th St., to which they needed a cab. But it was noon on a weekday and traffic is horrendous on 42nd Street. They headed west toward 6th Avenue which is northbound. Suddenly, Anne started to run. She had spotted an available cab on the far side of 42nd headed east and had run into the street, stopping westbound traffic, waving he arms and bellowing in her Chesterfield-soaked basso profundo cum Tallulah voice: "TAXI!!" The cab and eastbound traffic stopped on a dime, the cabby U-turned to pick up Anne and Carla. Pedestrians applauded her performance ... and Anne took a bow.
