Larkin Convertible Seat Table
Re: Larkin Convertible Seat Table
Most interesting. I like folding and re-configureable furniture pieces. I wonder where in the building these were meant to go---and did one or more get built and placed in the building ? I am designing for myself a fold-away dining table, at present.
I only regret the dead-flat seat, as there seems nothing to prevent it from being set at a slight angle, for comfort. We know Mr Wright disparaged the very act of sitting, so perhaps his apparent insensitivity in this (and many another) instance is to be forgiven or overlooked.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention. One might look for it in photos of the building. I note it was to be built of plain-sliced oak, the lesser of the options as compared to the more esteemed and costly quarter-sawn. I have seldom seen the cut called out on a Wright studio drawing, come to think of it.
