The subtle use of color throughout the house, a hallmark of H. H. Harris' work, was lost on this owner.

I want to scream. Be it wonderful "mid-century moderns", early 20th C Arts and Crafts, or formerly gilded Beaux Arts piles, everything coming on the market these days is painted bright, reflective museum-of-modern-art white. I think a lot of it is coming from hapless realtors, who have all convinced each other that no one will buy anything unless that "horrible dark wood" is banished. Aaagh!
