The Arensbergs were friends of Aline Barnsdall and stayed in one of her Olive Hill guesthouses. Being from Pittsburgh, they also knew the Kaufmanns - the two husbands at least (see Toker, Fallingwater Rising p 358).

The Neutra work is easily identified by the rows of vertical metal sash. Indeed his dark-colored volume seems to have been designed to contrast completely with the original structure. Too bad Lautner's work is invisible in this collection of photos. Could that be a working turntable in the driveway ?

Yes, the circular element is the turntable for the six-car port for guests. Take a google ride down Hillside to see the double garage for the owners' cars.
If an addition were made to a FLW house as jarringly different in style as Netra's, would there be any complementary remarks made? The word "carbuncle" comes to mind. Ain's addition wasn't pointed out, but I bet it wasn't carbuncleish.
