Web hosting
Web hosting
Unfortunately, at the moment I am unable to post images from my library, after Yahoo offloaded their Small Business Web Host to Verizon, who in turn seem to have given it to another entity. The upshot is that, while still calling the service a Web host, there is no intention to continue assigning a unique URL to each new image hosted.
Isn't that what hosting implies ?
I haven't yet protested (a lotta good that would do ?) or even questioned their new policy. But I anticipate having to move my image files to another site. Has anyone had a good experience with a third-party Web host ?

Re: Web hosting
Odd as it may seem, I have had good results using Blogspot, the venerable blog service.
In 2016 it started image hosting as part of the blog.
Just start a blog there and after you post your images you simply click on the image and it will show the image with its own url.
It costs nothing and if you already have a gmail account you are almost there already.

Thanks, Stephen. I'll look into it. I still have access to the file manager at the turbify site I pay c. $13./mo for, with its thousands of images uploaded there since c. 2006. I guess I'd have to download any image stored there to my desktop, thence to the blogspot blog, after which I could post it here. New images could be posted to the blog, and ditto. I guess the image identifier (xxx.jpg) would be all I would need, in either case . . .

Re: Web hosting
It would take a while to transfer thousands of images, but if you did your blog-posts thematically, with say a dozen or less images on each blog post it should be doable. It's a nice way to present a group of images and any text is Google-searchable and will show up if the subject is unique enough. You can turn comments off if desired.
If you take a look at a few of my posts you can see how it works:

Thanks. I hadn't intended to create a blog, but who knows---maybe that's a good move . . .
There's some curious pixilation (?) to a couple of your images; I'll assume you did that intentionally ?

Yes, the images are often done as illustrations, run through photoshop "artistic" filters.
Here is a straight photo (from 1917!):

Nice ! Can't complain about size . . .
Speaking of image size, a friend in Illinois is even more tech-challenged than I, and his new iPad is still a bafflement. He is sending images via email which arrive as sub-playing-card sized images, of c. 40 KB. Neither of us is yet aware of what is causing this; if he's using the iPad's camera to take these pictures, wouldn't it automatically send those images full size---unless the user selected a smaller size file to be exported ?
There are a couple of unknowns for me; I'm still unsure of the source of these images (he doesn't have a smartphone) and whether he or someone accidentally or intentionally set the iPad's image export criteria to perform as it is apparently doing.

I have had an iPad for several years; its photo functions are still a mystery to me!

Tech-challenged! My kerosene TV just failed. What do I do?
