That cantilevered, dead flat carport must have been engineered with steel extending all the way back into the pitched roof over the studio. Wood wouldn't have done the job.

Indeed. Steel was commonly used for all such cantilevered roofs---after the war---according to what can be seen in drawings. Here, Hugo had only four drawings to work from; they don't include framing or any other structural documents. There is a place for a cantilever beam, typically supported by less than half its length---but only on the outer wall and thus supporting only one end of the carport roof.

Hugo's excellent models are always accompanied by a truly prodigious display of landscape material; I can't help but see this as an additional bow to the architect, whose love of the natural (and/or enhanced) environment as the setting for his buildings is clear in all of the drawings produced in his studio and later at Taliesin.

Hugo does some terrific work! This appears to be on a 4' X 4' unit grid. What would the total square footage be?
The stepped window/door wall is an unusual detail.

I remain grateful for the beautiful renderings Hugo was kind enough to do for my Laurie Virr designed hut project.

A link to some photos of the TAA Legacy version of the Ruth Keith house:

The Legacy build is painted CMU masonry vs. the brick on the Keith design.

I believe this project is the inspiration for the Seth Peterson Cottage, some 10 years later

Hugo's renders are such a wonderful 21st-century addition to our studies of Wright's work. What strikes me most about these moving images is that they straddle that line of ideal vs the real so closely.. Perspective drawings from Wright's office gave only a couple snapshots of an entirely idealized production of the design. Great works from photographers like Shulman and Guerrero also gave a nearly-idealized account of the built works in perfected imagery. (I'm reminded of when James Choate refers to Guerrero's iconic shot of the Sturges house as "THE Image".) When we see renderings like this from Hugo––the Keith house as an idea in its fullest glory, perfectly embedded in a lush landscape––I'd say we have a similar effect. A presentational experience of the perfect. An illustrated ideal that chills with how real it looks. And yet, no neighbors, no electrical wires, no drafts or leaks or cracks or grime, etc etc.

Keith seems to me a nearly perfect design, as well, especially in the red brick. The only complaint I'd offer is that the fireplace is a bit disconnected from the living room seating.
