what a house..!! this is another example when Wright's apprentices did better job than the master. I would chose this one over some Wright's usonians. Very interesting and very big house. Is there any site to get that beautiful floor plan?

This is one of the least published houses by Jones, yet among the most interesting. The one detail I would take issue with is the choice of arched openings on two of the 4 fireplaces. They look as though they don't really belong in the house. I wonder if a review of his work would show that he made the same choice for any other house.

I saw an article in a periodical not long after Faubus was built that included the floor plan, but I don't recall which one, Architectural Record, Architectural Forum or Progressive Architecture. I don't think it was either House Beautiful or Architectural Digest.

Magnificent. Is this Fay Jones's answer to Wright's Martin house ?

The video tour is comprehensive, and a delight. The fireplace arches do seem out of place; the master suite and library fireplace lintels are more in keeping with the architecture. The house is being enjoyed by the current owner, apparently, with plans to open it eventually to a more public use. What a treasure, and a model for other residential architects to emulate ?

Jones used somewhat similar arched openings in his rather quirky Applegate House from about 1960, except there virtually everything is curved

A grand Usonian with a bedroom gallery a la Wright, a birdwalk, a central view loft open to the spaces below, a master suite worthy of the name, shared skylights in the private quarters, stone-built on a rocky prototypical Wright drop-off site. Wow.
