Good Afternoon -
I'm attending the Wright Walk for the first time next month and am very excited. I was wondering if anyone who had been to previous events had any advice on making the most of the day? Things to avoid? Anyone else attending

Thanks!
Jess

As an Oak Park resident who has volunteered for the house walk for many years I'd suggest:

Start early! People often line up before the FLW house they REALLY want to see well before the official opening. Sometimes the lines at the FLW houses are shorter later in the day.
Be prepared to wait in line in whatever weather we have that day.
Other years it's been possible to order box lunches. If that is an option, do it! You won't want to go wait in line to eat lunch at a restaurant with many other FLW attendees when you could be seeing another house or two. Or, you could order on line from one of the restaurants on Lake Street down a couple blocks from the Home and Studio (Lake Street and Marion area) so you can swoop in, pick up your food and find a place to eat without waiting. There are also a lot of restaurants at the Lake Street/Oak Park Avenue intersection with great food and, perhaps, they're a little more off the beaten path.
Ask people in line with you which houses they've especially liked. Sometimes the most talked about house is not a FLW house, believe it or not.
Enjoy yourself! The House Walk is a lot of fun, even for us local residents who have been in many of the houses that are open this year when they were on the House Walk in the past. You'll gather a lot of interesting information about the houses, about Wright, and about the era in which the houses were built.
