Samuel Freeman House for Sale
Re: Samuel Freeman House for Sale
Excellent digital models, with superb single-take camera movements. The inclusion of period cityscape photos is a delightful plus.
Novelties for me: the sawtooth openings at the bottom of the garage doors; the windows between lower-level lounge and bedrooms; Schindler's furnishings for Sam and Harriet.
Surprising too is the lack of credit for whoever created the videos.

Re: Samuel Freeman House for Sale
These videos restore an as-designed detail in the living room. At 0:48 in both, we see a door on the west side adjacent to the pier. The mullions (if that's the word) line up with the blocks, thus making the top pane shorter vertically than the others. The carpenter apparently thought this was an error, and made it with even-height panes, destroying the horizontal sweep that the videos show.

Heh. I always wondered about that misalignment; I never followed through on what caused it. Thanks !

Re: Samuel Freeman House for Sale
A curious emphasis is given to an incorrect interpretation of the house's history: the author repeats the assertion that the Freemans directed their architect to utilize an experimental system of construction.
"Frank Lloyd Wright was commissioned to build the house as a structural experiment with unique designs and textile blocks."
"The property, initially erected as a structural experiment by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1924, would later transform into an urban laboratory and a home for the avant-garde under the ownership of the Freemans."
"When she and her husband Sam Freeman commissioned Wright to build with textile blocks, experimental construction methods and innovative design elements, she intended to use the space as more than just a home . . ."
Would Mr Slade have gotten this slant on the history of the commission from something Jeffrey Chusid may have said or written---or is it something he chose of his own volition ?
