I just returned home from the Julie Sloan lecture at the Wichita Art Museum...If you have not had a chance to see this show and you are anywhere close to Wichita (or have the means to get there), you only have a week to get there and see it (it closes on the 29th of this month). I drove 2 1/2 hours and it was well worth the trip. I was so pleased to see the Scherubels there and it was a thrill to meet Julie Sloan, but I can not emphasis enough how important it is to see this show! The presentation of these windows is done so well...They are shown in front of shoji screens with plant materials fluttering behind them (maple leaves, etc.) I think Mr. Wright would have been very happy with how this show has been conducted. If you can, hit the road, take a plane, but don't miss this! You will not be disappointed.

I saw the show in Newport Beach awhile back. Glass does not photograph very well, and to fully appreciate the beauty of FLW's work, it is necessary to see the real thing. I was especially fascinated to see the small test panel FLW did for Luxfer in the 90s. Even the simple Imperial Hotel windows were beautiful. One glaring error in the Newport show was labelling a pair of doors from the living room of Hickox as being from D. D. Martin! I don't know how that happened, but I hope it was corrected for subsequent venues.
