Not very Wrightian---but then, Mr Wright took credit only for their arrangement on the ground, apparently:

"I believe their idea – though still in experimental stage – still good and a great advantage where camping out can be put on better terms. We will see. All I did for them was to make a tidy little village for exhibition out of their transient balloon shelters.�

Wallace Neff did something similar - concrete sprayed over a balloon - and actually built one.

Does anyone know what Battelle meant by Wright putting houses in caves?

Domes are hard to design. Neff's effort looks like a blister on the Earth; FLW's not much better.

Shotcrete applied over inflated domes have been used for small "earthy" houses as well a larger industrial or institutional structures:

Well...there's no rule of nature that says that the most efficient construction will also be the most comfortable, that the least extravagant use of material will also be the one most appealing to the senses...

...unfortunately.

Beats my dome designs. I scrapped them for a better alternative. Let’s just say rage design was NSFW and it was a total accident.
