Thanks for posting this article, the exploded view is great to see. LIFE was the parent company of Architectural Forum magazine 1892-1974. I believe there was sometimes crossover when editors believed a building, usually a house, would appeal to the public at large.

Stoneflower was also published in the May 1965 issue of Progressive Architecture magazine.

I remember being driven past this house on Eden Isle when I was a child. The adults pointed and laughed, and thought it was ridiculous. As a nine year old I knew it was magnificent.

It's not far from the entrance to Eden Isle, and you have to drive past it if you're doing anything in the little resort community.
