I think Howe's plan was a good one.
I've never cared for the move that takes the roof way down to the ground, however.

The house is on a bluff overlooking a river and trail. You can get some limited views of the house from that trail.

Actually, Neils overlooks Cedar Lake, not a river. The bike path replaced a railroad that used to skirt the south bank of the lake.
