Former owner of the G. Curtis Yelland House (1910), by Wm. Drummond
Out of curiousity, I went and found the Rayward house on Google Earth. It looks like quite a nice piece of property (15 acres) in a nice area.
Using the Google Earth measuring tool, I determined that as the crow flies it is only 0.87 miles from Philip Johnson's Glass House. Given the much publicized fiery relationship between Johnson & Wright, it is interesting that "little Phil" lived just around the corner from a Wright project. I wonder if there are stories....

Oh, the chairs are incredible! They were designed by Gerrit Rietveld in 1936. It's just the color (Olgivanna style..) that is messed up.

Peterm indeed the chairs are good. But lets talk about what other color would have suited the room better. Eggshell or a Rust color perhaps?

The heliotrope color of the Utrecht Chair isn't the problem -- it makes a nice hot contrast to all that ocher woodwork -- but why sateen ? Ick.
Maybe the "festoon" stitch could have been part of the color play, too -- blue, or burgundy ? The colors goffmachine suggests would be dandy, too . . .
I don't trust Alibaba. Where's the stitching ?
The big curved cantilevered walkway canopy is a treat. Never photographed before ?

I wonder if Palli has seen the perfs flanking the front door.
The sateen is indeed unfortunate, but worse is the fabric on the dining chairs. But it's only furniture.
This house reminds me of Keland in the way it rambles on in a not quite coherent manner all over the site. The solar hemicycles tended to be for more modest sized houses than this. Even in its original state, Rayward was a bit big for the type. As large as it is, I fear it's not quite "ritzy" enough for anyone who can afford to buy it, and its future is probably in doubt. There are some gold highlights original to the house, but so far no cherubs.

It may have started life as a Wright hemicycle, but it sure looks like a cluster$%&# now. Good lord - no wonder you never hear it mentioned.

If a rug can tie a room together, that corner's got enough rugs to tie it in knots. That's quite a pile.goffmachine wrote:SDR, wow that sateen is.....indescribable
