Again and again we see, in work by "the others," why Wright was the master. Plusses in this house (for me) include a glass backsplash/window in the kitchen, a heavy wood rail atop an all-glass balustrade, and exposed-aggregate floors. Trees enclosed by a walkway outside a bedroom seem to have plenty of leeway for growth and movement.

Dyson, like Lautner, learned from FLW without copying him. Wallace Cunningham (post-FLW) is another who has gone his own way.

What is most appalling about the Shaver Lake house must be the ceiling beams ending in mid-air (as it were). Following that, in both houses, is an apparent tin ear where scale-of-parts-to-whole is concerned. Finishes and furnishings can be blamed on owners or occupants, of course . . .
