I've seen a colored view from the river, possible in a video . . .

Oy! That's closer to the river than I thought. The Des Plaines tends to overflow its banks, doesn't it?
Re: Lloyd Lewis sections
I trekked the other side of the river but could never get close.Roderick Grant wrote: ↑Thu Dec 17, 2020 11:54 amIf only Google sent one of their photographers down the river on a boat....

Heh---yeah, it's a daring siting. But I guess the site is pretty flat, so placing the house further onshore wouldn't necessarily have been safer. Wright hedged his bet by raising the habitable parts of the house above the ground.

Street view:
1) Map it on Google: 15302 W Little St Marys Rd, Libertyville, Illinois
2) Go to street view
3) Point and "walk north"
4) See the three mailboxes on the left? The adjacent driveway leads to the property. It is a shared driveway
You cannot see the house from the street (not even close)

Re: Lloyd Lewis sections
That's a strange landscape, in the street view. Looks like something out of a children's story-book, or maybe The Wizard of Oz . . .?

In the late spring, if anyone wants to go on a canoe trip, I could work out the logistics. We can have a canoe or kayak drive by. Let me know.
If I get a couple of takers, I can put a plan together, to see if their are any takers.

Previous owners ? So they hired Harding Partners to restore, and have since sold the property ? The Haineses were owners of the lighting company ?
