Re: Cherokee Red
A piece was designed for the Taliesin furniture line that was to be produced for that line between 1953 an 1955. Mr. Wright commissioned my father, Valentin Minnich, and his company MINIC to submit designs and prototypes of vases and furniture pieces for the Taliesin line.
This particular design was designed by me but was rejected in Oct. of 1954 as being to costly to reproduce in a mass production line.
My design as a fourteen year old was based on the knowledge that Mr. Wright liked reds as a color (and particularly Cherokee Red) and mahogany as a wood. I decided to try and combine the two.
The nine drawer configuration was based a playful and fanciful way of working in my birthday-----May 9th. I sat on this design for 25 years and then decided to produce it for myself. I worked in the reds of mahogany as a sign of honor and esteem for Mr. Wright.
If you are interested in a photo, let me know your email. Yours, William V. Minnich

After my brother died in 2013 one of my children asked me if I was now the last person to have worked on a project with Mr. Wright. I was taken aback by the question as it might very well be true. I wonder if any one out there would know?

We first heard from Mr Minnich in 2007:

And again, in 2009:

The Cherokee Red thread cited by David might be found here:

You may certainly contact me with photos. The "Contact me" option here no longer seems to include readers' emails.
