IMHO, one of the most distressing aspects of the "Eaglefeather" design was the modern-day adoption of the font by the same name for anything even remotely Frank Lloyd Wright-related.

You would be hard pressed to find any evidence of Eaglefeather, since it wasn't built. That was the name of the main house. The other parts (aside from Eleanor's Retreat) are the gate house, stable and additions. The Oboler's son died in an accident ...

... But if after the above warning you are willing to take your movie-watching life in your own hands and hope for some good looks at Eaglefeather - you will be sadly disappointed. It appears most of the exteriors of this "film" (if that label can even be applied to such ...

I don't know if this title has been mentioned yet, but in the following article (third paragraph from the bottom) is mentioned the movie "Five" by Arch Oboler - filmed at "Eaglefeather":

... illustrations to emerge from Taliesin. Although somewhat ambiguously identified (in the 2001 Pomegranate "Deluxe Engagement Book") as Eaglefeather, this view seems to be of the Continuation plan above, looking west under the pergola at the left side of the plan. No architect, I'm guessing, ...

I'm guessing that based on the photographs from 2008, Continuation is being constructed, which is wonderful if it is done well. Architecturally Eaglefeather was not all that great, and if it had been built would today probably have serious structural problems. Reidy's suggestion that Palumbo might ...

... like. The volumes are just too big, and the images often badly placed on the pages, for me to scan them effectively (at least, in the case of Eaglefeather, which I wanted to present yesterday). While I've done a lot of photographing, as an alternative, it results in a darker image (on line ...

Is the English owner Peter Palumbo? He has a good reputation as an owner / patron.

Eaglefeather is a favorite of mine among the unrealized projects, but I wonder how good a job anyone can do if the Taliesin establishment has significant control.

If this is indeed true, how about the suggestion that he acquire the Obler estate, refurbish the existing buildings and then construct Eaglefeather - a win-win!

I've got some music connections - I'll sniff around and see if I can find out any further details.

Supposedly Eric Wright was coordinating such? IT is a travesty to see this property fall on hard time. IT has a spectacular view, ...

Usonian mailbox lettering

... I don't know who designed this, but the lettering is of a style Taliesin was using at the time your house was built. The Eaglefeather font was of an earlier time, before the Usonian era.

I did a search and got this place - www.customhousenumbers.com. It looks like they do what you're asking. Don't know how much it costs though.

By the way, P22 the company that put out Eaglefeather also put out several other FLlW faces, so you may want to check those out.

The Acres

... limited budget and our practical needs. We now want to have "THE ACRES" attached to the new mailbox structure. Should we use the FLLW eaglefeather font? We can pay a company to download the font, and make us aluminum letters which will be the closest we can come to Cherokee red. The ...
