I don't find anything pyramidal or otherwise for a client named Headley. Where is it in the Lloyd Wright book Page 142. Headley House, 1944. There are six contemporary photos and two elevations. It is very similar in appearance and materials to the Pool House posted above. I believe this is the str...

Isn't that pyramidal house in the rendering to the left of the proposed house the one designed by Lloyd? I believe it's pictured and listed in the monograph on Lloyd's work. Weintraub's information is confusing. He states Hartford gave 5 acres of the canyon to his associate George Headley who hired ...

Huntington Hartford Site in Hollywood Hills to be Developed?

Quite a different approach than what Wright was proposing for the Sports Club complex. Of course this is only one single family home. Glad to hear Lloyd's house will be left alone:

I don't believe in ghost, goblins, poltergeists or Fox and Friends. I neither dwell on death nor fear it particularly. I only know if I were sitting out by the pool where one by one members of an innocent family were brought out and murdered, each in there turn, it would certainly be a difficult ima...

What a horrible story. The stuff of nightmares. Not sure I could ever enjoy a quiet evening by that pool.

There's some sort of sad irony that the killer was motivated by environmental issues with a property owner who built a home with this much sensitivity to its surroundings.

The book on Hollyhock I would like to see published is the collection of photos by Veroque Baker Indeed, that's an archive someone should plunder. This is a female photographer who hired R.M. Schindler design her studio in Hollywood. She documented a great deal of early Southern California modernis...

Toured the house recently. With Schindler, it's all about the experience of being in the house, the small delights of hidden lighting and windows placed to blur the sense of outdoor/indoors. The updates are sensitive and stunning. The wood floors have a tinge of green stain running through them whic...

When I visited this house I was amazed how small it actually is. I never got a sense of scale from the photographs and expected larger spaces. The place is truly amazing but quite livable. If you were to soften up some of the hard surfaces just a bit you could actually call the place cozy. Now as to...

The paint job is pretty bad. The interior photos are bewildering. Did not the owner or photographer spend even a moment on staging? How hard to remove some bric a brac or clear a table or counter? As for the decor, well, since I can't say anything nice I won't say anything at all.

A minor complaint. They couldn't move the dining table over about 2 feet so they wouldn't have to swag that underwhelming orange chandelier thing? https://efe0dfd79c2d76f6e06cf1f6-fw79xuz8ihfc3ku.netdna-ssl.com/wp-content/uploads/Little-Tuscanu-Palm-Springs-Dr.-Alexander-Franz-House-it-truly-an-extr...

That auction photo from Rago is identical to my former chair. It's interesting because that is the same upholstery mine had when I bought it in 1997. I had it re-upholstered in the more richly textured fabric you see in the Wright auction. The chair is solid wood not plywood. I have no idea what the...

No one's copping to the chair being modified. The difference in material of the wing feet is suggestive nevertheless. True enough. I was the owner of the chair pictured above (without the supports). I can attest that at least once I and the chair took a tumble when I extended my reach to the side i...
