That's Pattern #105. According to Hanks, the design was also used on a matching wallpaper. Value seems to be determined by sample size, colorway, condition and desirability. (Pattern 104, which is composed of overlapping circles, always seem to fetch a high price). Some colorways seem harsh to conte...

Your photos are amazing as is the Price Tower itself. It has long been one of my favorite Wright designs. That is why we made the trip from CT to OK to tour and inhabit the space. It was not my intention to bash the Tower but simply render my honest feelings concerning an actual stay. This visit was...

Peterm,

I don't want to hijack this thread regarding my stay at the Price Tower so I have posted a new topic. I know one shouldn't comment if one has nothing nice to say but after giving it much thought I decided to share my experience anyway.

A Visit to the Price Tower

Here are my thoughts on a recent visit to the Price Tower: We stayed in one of the original two story apartments. The Tower itself is incredible. As opposed to a typical building of its size, the Price Tower feels "hand made." Due to the angularity of the design it's apparent that little ...

Frankie-Oh, Glad you enjoyed your stay at Price Tower. I was quite disappointed in what I found there. I'm not surprised that the restaurant closed. We made reservations for dinner but after going up and taking a look that afternoon we promptly cancelled. For me, a certain part of a fine dining expe...

So along these lines can we now officially declare that usage of the adjective " awesome " has reached a critical level by those with neither the imagination or vocabulary to seek alternatives? I can still tolerate it in adolescents but when I hear a middle-aged person use ithe word I want...

I drove by the house when I stayed at the Price Tower (now that's another post!) and found it oddly underwhelming. I never did understand the vertical fenestration and now with the interior block painted it must feel like a prison inside. I want to like this house, I really do, but honestly I find i...

My only comment would be using so much glass in Buffalo - the winters are cold and long. I can understand wanting contrast to the brick of the house but I hope they have a special endowment for the heating costs (or maybe went geothermal?) Otherwise, I will be back home next month for a family visit...

I don't have a scanner but Lloyd Wright designed furniture for this house which is now gone and scattered. If you have any books showing the Storer house when it was owned by Joel Silver you can see an example of a dining table and chairs originally from the Sowden. All of the furniture was very the...

Peterm,

Did I miss this or something? Did the drawings come with the house purchase or did you have to track them down? The work looks incredible and congrats on your upholstery find. This place will look fantastic when you put it all together. Keep those pictures coming!

As part of my stay in the Price Tower last fall I toured many houses that Goff designed in Oklahoma. The Friends of Kebyar has published a wonderful guide book to Goff's work in that state with maps and addresses to all structures. It was great to just program the GPS, drive into new areas and then ...

Won't sell for that price but the seller is also taking offers. Probably figures that as long as he has set such an unrealistic high price he can sit back and see what he's offered in the meantime and then sell if he wants. While these are rare pieces from the Tower I do remember seeing a similar se...

For those of us with smaller home libraries, if you search Amazon for the Thomas Heinz book "FLW's Interiors" they have the Look Inside feature available for the book. You can then do a search for "Carlson" and see the two photos mentioned above. Only odd thing is that according ...
