Curious, what were they asking for the set?

Without getting sucked into a food fight, I was implying that Wrights usage of "prairie" relative to Wingspread was to make a statement (not unusual!) concerning that genre. Real or imagined, he felt he was never given full recognition for what he created in the earlier days and which was ...

I'm sure Wright never thought in terms of "prairie" houses. That said, I believe Wright referred to Wingspread as the "last" only because it indeed posessed a perfect prairie setting (if near a large body of water!), and the zoned, expansive layout Johnson's money allowed was a p...

Coonley did have a pergola along the raised garden, and of course, there's Westcott. I've always liked the Cutten House project of 1911. Though not built, it would have been similar to Taliesin in execution and employed extended pergolas. This would have been a "true" prairie house, since ...

Is it just my computer illiteracy, or is there some way to paginate these posts so you don't have to scroll back and forth....up and down....?

Here is an operative link to the original Taliesin Fellows in Northern California. There is a link there to some work, and also a link to all their newsletters. A lot of good, informative reading there about them, Taliesin, and their frustrations. Be warned, some of the architecture is not that grea...

I believe the Taliesin Fellows were eviscerated by Taliesin. They committed the sin of trying to envelop and include concerned former apprentices with the Taliesin/Wright heritage-with the predictable noncooperation. They had a quality newsletter for some time, but eventually retired it. They tried ...

I'm sure Taliesin would provide you with such a list, but I would start by seeking out homes in your area you admire. I'm sure there are good architects in San Diego. You do not need a Taliesin provenance to get good architecture. In fact, that is the last qualifier I would employ. Organic is a misl...

Martin House

In case anyone missed a previous post, the real time video of the restoration is quite convenient. It's not often one gets to see framing going up on an original Wright building such as the pergola currently, on a day by day basis. Very cool.

A set of the monograph is currently on eBay being separated to maximize a return.

If you are interested, please note carefully that this set is a reprint in softcovers. Although rare in their own right, they are not one of the two original hardboard printings.

I remember and followed your early involvement; what a sad situation. I knew as soon as I read about "Tigerman and the gang of three unknowns" that all was not well, reminiscent of the Price Tower debacle (never get me to accept that horror they want to build there). The contextual neighbo...

Jones' chapels can be appreciated without the obligatory deference to Wright. His earlier work, like many others, was understandably derivative as opportunities to build and experiment arose. As his art matured, he specifically surpassed Wright in my opinion concerning the chapels as organic, spirit...
