Outrageously hillarious (the resemblance is uncanny!)

Wright is the only critical call, and Oldham is far and away the perfect choice. I see no one else pulling it off. Robert Duvall? Great actor but I would never buy into it. His head is too small!

Wow. Mobius, just have fun building your home. Given more time Wright would have progressed beyond Usonian's to other visions, so don't think you have to be chained to some specific program. I'll be interested to see what you come up. Don't expect to satisfy Wright purists or those who are not even ...

I agree with both points of view! The only advantage to registering would be the possibility of reducing the number of personal attacks. In the end, you can only hope for the best. Of course, charging even a small posting fee would eliminate them completely! .... and I'm sure someone out there will ...

Surely the development of the adjacent acre will "enhance" the Wright property (as if the landsharks care). The person who bought the Bach House in a prime part of Chicago is keeping a similar lot vacant NOT to deter from the integrity of the house further. It must be worth more than an ac...

Paula's points are valid, but considering the murky waters surrounding various phases of Wright's career, you have to assume Storrer used some sort of criteria for his assessments. It would be interesting to see a volume consisting purely of the data he has accumulated. With anyone it is inevitable ...

Re: storer

Although the book is complete and a great reference, some of the errors are unnerving. Hearsay has no place in such an important book. No one is perfect, and I for one admire Storrers research-which few have attempted so comprehensively. I'd be interested to know which errors you find the most &quo...

Winslow

Damn! That is one beautiful building-and what a restoration. The last time I saw it my first thought was "get out the power washer!". How did he live with himself knowing what a genius he was!? It is always illuminating to see current photography of these classics, since the splendor is on...

If the City of Racine purged it's archives of sixty year old record drawings and someone got hold of a copy and wants to sell it, I can't see anything that would prevent him/her from doing so. I concurr. That was the point I was making about them having no intrinsic "value" as more or les...

I have pretty much come to ignore common errors in Wrightdom. They are everywhere. I constantly see photos printed backwards, even in the Quarterly, which may just be sloppy proofing at the printers. Reprinted editions are not re-edited 100% of the time either. For example, when Twombly reissued his...

Like anything else, those prints are worth what anyone will pay for them, and I'm sure any Wright afficiando would love to own them. As blueprints they have no intrinsic value. They are certainly not as collectable as original drawings which are beyond the reach of any little league collector. These...

I forgot to mention, there are too many Wright buildings included in the Historic American Buildings Survey to mention here, with varying degrees of information on each.

All you information geeks, like me, can just navigate your way to the Wright buildings here:

You're in luck! The Library of Congress includes the Robie House in their Historic American Buildings Survey collection. The direct link to the Robie House is so long it would mess up the window sizing of this board. The link below will take you to a page where the RH is the first line item. It will...

I don't detect any difference in attitude or the likely success of the school, which frankly has no reason to exist any more than the fellowship. For years the best of whatever genre in architecture initiated by Wright, has been produced by those with no Taliesin connection. The appointment of Sidy ...

The text, however, contains a lot of errors. Bruce has done a fine job as curator of the archives, but he is no architectural historian by any means. The errors, misstatements, etc, rgrant mentions are the only blemish on this wonderful collection-still worth every penny I paid. Do you think it is ...
