Yes, the atrium was originally open and screened at the 8 foot level, meaning the house was originally all flat roof. The architect and original owner added the pitched section as they were tired of running across in the rain. The covering allows the space to be used in all types of weather.

Thank you. It's polycarbonate roofing on the atrium skylight. We replaced the older corrugated fiberglass material and added a slight pitch to help with drainage. There are side vents and the space is air-conditioned so it is included in the square footage.

Apprentice(?) usonian in ATL. Needs saving!

Any guesses who the architect may be? 1953 build. Nice setting. Very few photos to go on. House shown in last 2 photos.

Well-deserved, too, as it is such a beautiful house. It was my introduction to FLW when I visited and the closest thing to a spiritual experience I've ever had.

I had to laugh when the woman in the video makes the comment about the limited storage meant Eichler residents were less prone to collecting 'stuff' - the first word that came to mind when she was showing us around her kitchen was 'cluttered'. I guess that's the minimalist in me speaking.

This same listing was just posted in a Mid Century Modern facebook group by someone who had toured the house and he just confirmed that Harold Turner was both builder and architect.

Great to hear you enjoyed seeing our house, it was brilliant to meet such knowledgable and enthusiastic Wright 'aficionados' and very helpful to hear everyone's ideas - the wine was very much appreciated as well! Related to this, I recently bought the documentary on the Oyler House from Amazon http://www.amazon.com/The-Oyler-House-Richard-Neutras/dp/B00GXHO08M Beautifully shot and very interesting interviews with the original owner Richard Oyler who did most (all) of the construction himself, and Kelly Lynch...
