The interior doesn't seem to offer up much of "the Wright experience".

The house on the left is even more unusual, isn't it; would anyone have committed that combination of first-floor openings to paper, in a catalog ? What would they have called it ? For lack of a better term, I call the one on the left "Gothic Prairie", it seems to borrow some detail eleme...

Two more prairie-ish houses in my town, another Google Maps screenshot: http://i62.tinypic.com/2qn5bav.png The area is a ghetto now, it seems unlikely that the one on the left will be saved. The one on the right appears to be mostly just a foursquare with a dressed up front elevation and some nice f...

The Gordon-Van Tine kit house number 2617 was only built once (at least that we know of to date). 605 East Washington St. Eustis, FL. There's at least one more example of the 2617 house: http://i58.tinypic.com/21exk4g.jpg I found this small picture in my files, and can't remember where I found it.

As a kit house, you'd think there'd be a few examples "out there".

Know of any other Prairie kit or pattern book designs?

It seems to be a pretty direct crib of the Walser/Barton plan.

Where did the Model 2617 show up ? Did it have a manufacturer ?
It's from Gordon Van Tine, they were a supplier of kit houses.

Gordon Van Tine had this Model 2617: http://gordonvantine.com/images/mag/Pix/11.jpg And here's a house near me in Hillcrest, Little Rock, AR, which looks like a Prairie plan that the builder tried to disguise as a Mission: http://i60.tinypic.com/fnsjdy.jpg http://i62.tinypic.com/xlk0pc.jpg (I couldn...

I have the von Holst book on the Dover imprint. It's not really a pattern book as such, more like a compendium of articles from home magazines. I was just wondering if there was a known source for the sorts of Prairie, prairie-lite, and prairie-ish homes you sometimes see in A&C neighborhoods ou...

Pattern books?

Did any of the Prairie School architects ever allow their work to appear in pattern books?

There's a very expensive Nusonian in my area. I've never seen it because it's in a gated community, but the four photos on the architect's site seem pretty impressive:

It's got two slots, so it's either designed for two panes, or designed to be reversible.

It's highly probable.
