DO NOT seal concrete block if you are in an area that has any freezing and thawing potential. Great damage has occurred when people try to seal concrete materials with a sealer in these zones. We ran into something like this with the Westcott house. It was built in 1907/08, but I bet the situation is close enough to at least give you some guideance.
