Wright's name for the redesign of Ennis for Nesbitt was "Sijistan"...derived (according to Wikipedia) from the 2nd c BC Sakastan, now the Iranian province of Sistan Baluchestan. Alternatively, the name of a 10th c. Persian palace. In any case, from Mayan to Persian in thirty years.

Regarding the Feldman ceiling, there was an excellent picture (or a link thereto) in a post here about the new book "Frank Lloyd Wright on the West Coast" by Mark Anthony Wilson with photographs by Joel Puliatti, that shows the living room with the original furniture reinstalled, and shows...

Not sure the question is why didn't they reproduce the screen, but rather why did they remove it? It had always been there in my memory, and their are loads of photos online of the house with the screen in place.

VC Morris

I was at a private party in the Morris Gift Shop last week. It has a large "For Lease" sign jammed in the entry grillwork and is looking a little sad, as any vacant building soon becomes. The original furniture is still there, but no plants in the hanging disc planter over the atrium. Appa...

I do not believe anything was "done" to the fireplace. If you look at the New Jersey photo of the fireplace in the "Frank Lloyd Wright House is Built Anew…" article, you will see the original, with a fire screen, and clearly see the shape of the fireplace structure. Knowing thi...

Wasmuth 1963 edition

Michann's Auction, Alameda California, has a 1963 Horizon edition of the Wasmuth portfolio in their July 11, 2015 auction. Case is slightly shop worn, but prints appear perfect except one with some foxing. Estimate, $300-500.

"Wrightscapes" by Charles and Berdeana Aguar is the best analysis I have seen of Wright's siting and how his designs responded to site.

That godawful video is from the 2009 sale. From Wikopedia: An extensive restoration project (both inside and out) was completed in 2012. The two and a half year restoration project was undertaken by the present owners of the house, Francis J. Cosentino and his wife Jane E. Parker, who purchased the ...

In my experience since the 1960s the interiors have never been white. They are now as they were then an appropriate creamy buff. BTW, the "archival" photos posted are not from the VC Morris gift shop days, but from when the space was occupied by the Helga Howie ladiesware shop in the '70s-...
