oh well, nothing on tv so........
One of my favorite Aaron stories from the Detroit project is.....Once Wright sent Aaron to Detroit to not just supervise construction but pretty much act as contractor, Aaron was stricken with Chicken Pox. Aaron was living in a tent on the site. Wright wired Aaron that he is coming to visit. Aaron s...

correct
you are correct that one didnt know what the other was doing, after Aaron was forced back to Wisconsin and jailed, Aaron contacted Wrights friend Bill Evjue in Madison, who successfully arranged with selective services to be released from jail until called up by Air Force.

Yes, I grew up in Northwest Indiana, in fact my mother used to work (still have not totally figured out with who or just where or how, seems to be a time in moms life she would like not to remember..) as she kinda sorta remembers for John or someone very close to John in Michigan City Indiana as a c...

Aaron / California
I kind of believe the Aaron / California Connection began around 1939-1940 when the Pauson sisters, Rose and Gertrude became frequent visitors to Taliesin West. I is my belief that, Mrs Wright was influential in introducing the thirds sisters' daughter, Jean Haber to Aaron. The Pausons and Habers we...

renderings
Well, here's my two cents............. 1&2 , to me there is much to make one assume that Wright drew a good amount of this, but this rendering intrigues me for a few reasons. But before I thought Wright, I at once said to myself...Aaron. Aaron and Wright drew trees in a very similar fashion, The...

PAUL HOUSE
The Paul house is so tiny, and now so filled in with foliage, photographing is very difficult. Another thing is that the Pauls, who are in their 90's are extremely private and frail. Aaron had built a small, but lovely studio in front of the house for Mr. Pauls mother. This was done in the early 196...

Yes, Haynes not Hayes, my apologies. No I am not Jan, but we worked together at Aarons office. He is a wonderful person. BBF has done some great things, but tends to be a bit of a blowhard. The panels actually vary from house to house from totally unique to very similar. The Buehler House has simila...

PERFORATED PANEL
Now this is entertainment! Some should perhaps lighten up a bit. Perhaps these perforated panels are ALL just stylized abstracts of what ever came before. The Rosenbaum House is nearly 20 years before the Hayes, and it has geometric patterned panels with similar geometry, as do others such as Bazett...

I know that Morton Delson was supervising construction in the area. There was another who replaced him, I am still going through my stuff to find the name.

Former apprentice passes away
Sadly, former apprentice Walter Olds (1940's) passed away August 17 at the age of 89. I got to know Walter and his wife Betty 8 years ago while visiting Katie and Maynard Buehler, which Walter supervised the original construction, and the rebuild after the fire. Walter was a gifted craftsman, and Ar...

bartholomew
The Bartolomew house is in Los Altos Hills. It was for sale last year for 3.8 million. While much of the original home is intact, it has been enlarged greatly by former apprentices Bill Patrick and Dan Liebermann. As originally built, yes it was quite dramatic for its size, also one of my favorites....

Reif
Yes, that is indeed the former Reif House, I thought it burned down. Another AGG house south, is the Anderson Residence in Malibu, on the ocean. Do not know the status. I sure miss Aaron, a book about him is in the works. I am working on an article about my time with Aaron for the revamped Fellows J...

Greene X2
I read something in the archives by Wright, saying he feels that the Greenes had little contribution to American Architecture. Reasons being that their concepts did not lead to anything new or innovative. They were just higher end bungalows, and not forward thinking. On a personal note, while the Gr...
