Any title about Wright by Donald Hoffman. Also, Wright's own The Natural House (1954) is a primer on the Usonian house and one of his most readable books.

Royalties from widely distributed school textbooks they authored didn't hurt either.

I can see Jamie Foxx as Carleton, but having Hatheway play a 45 year old Mamah might be a stretch. Helena Bonham Carter of The King's Speech fame is closer in age.

Similar story at the Sweeton house...Muriel was the instigator and primary correspondent on matters of design. In many respects she was THE client. John, in addition to paying the bills, played a more active role in the technical aspects during construction, given his background in engineering and n...

from the link: “There’s a documentary by Ken Burns [the 1998 film, Frank Lloyd Wright] that’s quite good, but it’s odd that there’s never been a [feature] film about him, Beresford said. Why is that odd? Other than the Fountainhead, which some might argue IS Hollywood's feature on Wrigh...

My wife and I stayed at the Snowflake twice during the summer of 1999 when I was regularly going to site meetings for some architectural projects associated with a supermarket chain in the area. The motel was in rough shape at the time, but the exterior form, the interior space created by the Dougla...

Such a violent act...one wonders the motivation of the owner...this is more than greed, it almost seems vengeful. I wish the owners would reconsider this travesty and offer the property for sale intact to allow the possibility of a deep pocketed preservation minded buyer restoring the house. Much as...

It is an odd house...I don't think I've ever seen a house with so many windows be so spatially confining. The windows read as punched holes. If the sills were lower and the heads higher, and they were better linked in series, maybe the house would feel more open to its surroundings.

The plan published in the 1956 issue of Arizona Highways magazine indicates the first floor bedroom as well. I wonder if the partition was removed under Boomer or Kinter ownership? By the looks of the plan, the removal of the partition would have made the lower floor more spacious, particularly if t...

The house's size and location cause me to think of the following: It's proximity to the Biltmore would make it a perfect overnight rental if an arrangement for use of the golf course or spa is made...possibly property management and housekeeping could be handled through the Biltmore for a fee. Depen...

Site Activity at the Boomer House in Phoenix

I was on Google Earth today at work and as an aside, I perused some Wright sites in Phoenix. It would appear that much of the dense non-native foliage at the Boomer cottage has been removed. In fact, the Google Earth image actually captures the laborer's equipment parked at the curb. (click on the h...

I recall reading a remembrance Svetlana wrote much later about Wes, soon after his passing, that seemed sympathetic toward him. Not sure where I read it...the FLLW Quarterly issue dedicated to Peters, maybe?
