We've found objects with clean, preferably straight, lines look best in the Sweeton house. Wood objects, close in tonal value to the surrounding trim and plywood look best. Chrome looks out of place in the rooms. Some brushed stainless objects on the dining table or dining shelves look OK. Bold patt...

I thought of this scenario sometime ago when asked the age old question, “Who would you like to share a meal with, living or dead?. The person who asked the question said she already knew the answer would be FLLW. I actually thought dinner with Wright would be a frustrating exercise as ...

If you could ask a question of FLLW, what would you ask?

You are at a FLWBC Conference, and between sessions you are approached by a neatly dressed thin man with a narrow tie and a crew cut...he has more than a passing resemblance to Rod Serling. He holds out a Cherokee Red cell phone and says, “Would you like to ask him a question?â€Â You say Ã...

G-W, Sondern 1, and Euchtman are my favorite early brick and board Usonians. I think G-W looks to be in better condition now than it has been in decades. The lanai presents a maintenance issue...to my knowledge there is no gate; lifting a gas or electric pushmower over the wall is difficult, potenti...

I'm guessing this is a dormer window...

...and not sure why an original window of a restored house is up for sale?

The window appears to be propped with small foldback chairs from Wright's Madison Unitarian Meeting House.

The chairs are attractive and would look good in a Usonian interior, but so would a set of well used Nakashima Conoid chairs bought at auction for close to the same price.... https://www.google.com/search?q=nakashima+conoid+chairs&client=safari&hl=en-us&biw=375&bih=553&tbm=isch&a...

It is true. The theater disc, sans patterned metal roofing, was an element of a pavilion built by SCJohnson Wax at the 1964-65 NY Worlds Fair. The pavilion and its theater were not the work of Wright or TAA. After the fair, Johnson Wax decided to relocate the theater to their Racine campus as a corp...

Many thanks for sharing your heartfelt letter to Mr. Burcher, and for stepping up to be the next steward of this fine little house. You note that Mr. Burcher reached out to Mr. Wright...did he approach Taliesin prior to Wright’s death in 1959? I know of a house built in Exton PA in which the ...

Let’s not forget Wright’s “New Theater for Woodstock, NY in 1931, which was revised in the late 1940’s for a client in Connecticut. The design influenced Wright’s theater designs for Florida Southern and later Kalita Humphreys. http://www.columbia.edu/cu/lweb...

I recall reading the sconces in the Caberet theater at TWest are versions of the sconces designed for Beth Sholom, which was designed 1956-57ish.
