Yeah, I think I read in one of those articles it was intended as a temporary building.
The photograph suffices for preservation.

So in the 1956 shot by Joe Price the "fins" running down the left side of the Tower are stair landings to the stairs.
The ones Rood walked down.
Not realized this before but they are open to the air.
Literally a "fire escape" like Rood said.

You just click on the image.
Im on a Mac, when my cursor hovers over the image
a magnifying glass with a plus sign appears.
It lets me enlarge 2 times.
It's like the Visions of Wright site.
But I did copy them and will send to you.
I've never seen this version of the project either.
Pretty cool.
